I want to reserve or renew an item over the telephone. Is there anything I should know before I call?
Before you call your local Greater Sudbury Public Library (GSPL) branch to reserve or renew materials, please have your library card ready. Staff will ask you for your barcode; it is located on the reverse side of your library card and is 13 digits in length.
How do I view my checked out items online?
You can check the due dates of your checked out items online to avoid late fines.
- Login to My Library
- Click the "Checked Out Items" button to view the materials you have checked out at this time.
- Scroll down - the list of what you have checked out will appear below your personal information. If you are not ready to return an item that is currently checked out, you may be able to renew it.
How do I renew checked out materials online?
Library cardholders may renew their own materials online.
All material may be renewed except materials with reserves, materials on which you owe fees. To renew items borrowed through Interlibrary Loan, please contact the Interlibrary Loan department at 705-673-1155, extension 4755.
To renew online:
- Login in My Library
- Click the "Checked Out Items" button to view the materials you have checked out at this time.
- Select the materials you want to renew by checking the boxes in the Renew column and then click the "Renew Selected" button.
- If you want to renew everything, click on the "Renew All" button.
- If you cannot renew items, a message will appear on the screen to indicate this. If you are successful, a new due date will appear in the Status column. Always check the Status column for information on the success or failure of your renewal.
May I return my checked out material to another GSPL location?
Library materials may be returned to any branch of the Greater Sudbury Public Library, with the exception of Express items, specified 3D objects, or special collections(which must be returned to the branch from which they were borrowed). Book return bins are available at most branches for after-hours convenience.
How do I renew my expired card?
- Active Passport memberships do not expire.
- Access memberships expire after 1 year from the date of issue.
- Non-Resident memberships expire at the end of the month or year they have paid for.
- Inactive library memberships with 4 years of no activity are automatically deleted.
- Members in good standing may request that their account be deleted at any time.
- To renew an expired or inactive account, please visit any GSPL location to update and reactivate your card.
