Book clubs

Greater Sudbury Public Library (GSPL) supports our community’s love of reading in a variety of ways when it comes to book clubs. You can join one of our active reading groups as space allows, or take advantage of our collection in support of your own discussion group needs. Read on for available options.

Borrow a Book Club Kit 

Book Club kits contain 5 – 10 copies of the same title in a convenient canvas bag. New book club kits become available for public use in the Fall of each year. Unlike regular circulating materials, book club kits can be reserved up to 1 year in advance, so if your group plans well ahead, you can secure the title you want as soon as you like. Interlibrary Loan Options for Book Clubs

Borrow multiple copies from us or another library - you can borrow copies from our circulating collection, and requests will be fulfilled as copies become available.

If you are hosting a book club, and there are not enough copies of the book available in the library's collection, use the Interlibrary Loan Book Club Request Form to request additional copies.

Join a GSPL Book Club

If you're looking for a way to meet new people, engage in interesting discussions, and read great books at the same time, consider joining a GSPL Book Club! 

The following book clubs are currently running either in-person, virtually, or both! We are always happy to accept new members when space opens up.

• Registration is a requirement to hold a seat and a book copy due to space constraints.
• Discussions can include fiction and nonfiction titles.
• Meeting details are sent to registered participants for hybrid and virtual book clubs on the day of discussion.

Monthly Book clubs:

In-person

• Copper Cliff Book of the Month Club – 2nd Monday at 5:00 p.m.
• Lively Book of the Month Club – 1st Monday at 6:30 p.m.
• New Sudbury Afternoon Book Chat  – 2nd Wednesday at 2:00 p.m.
• South End Afternoon Book Chat – 2nd Tuesday at 2:00 p.m.
• South End Book of the Month Club – meets on the last Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

Hybrid

• 2S-LGBTQ+ Book Club – 1st Wednesday at 2:00 p.m.
  
• 2SLGBTQ+ Book Club – last Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

Virtual

• Virtual Book of the Month Club – 3rd Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
