Appointment of Board Members
The opportunity:
Are you motivated, passionate, and committed to making a difference in the success of your community? The Greater Sudbury Public Library Board is seeking Board members to participate in the next term of the Board. The Greater Sudbury Public Library Board is the governance body responsible for the Greater Sudbury Public Library.
Major projects for the 2023-2027 term include:
- Renewal of the Library’s Operating Agreement with the City of Greater Sudbury;
- Developing and implementing the Library’s next Strategic Plan and long-range Master Plan
- Contribute to the ongoing development of the New Central Library within the broader Junction East project
- Continuing the Board’s ongoing transition to a more autonomous governance model with particular focus on policy development and advocacy
Ideal Director(s)
As a Library Trustee, you:
- Embrace GSPL’s core values including cultural diversity, equitable access, intellectual freedom, accessibility, and innovation.
- Are committed to building a comprehensive and efficient public library service reflecting the community’s needs.
- Demonstrate an interest in the “big picture” opportunities and challenges facing public libraries at a local, provincial, and national level.
- Are motivated and possess the skills, passion and vision to contribute as a member of the Greater Sudbury Public Library Board.
Experience in the following areas would be considered an asset:
- Governance – Board of Director Experience;
- Finance and Accounting;
- Human Resources / Management;
- Engineering / Construction;
- Legal;

Eligibility:
To be a library board member, the person must meet specific qualifications
- at least 18 years of age
- a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident
- a resident of the City of Greater Sudbury
- must not be employed by the Greater Sudbury Public Library Board or by the City of Greater Sudbury
Term:
The term of office will be until January 2027, or until successors are appointed. Any member of the Board may serve for successive terms.
