The Greater Sudbury Public Library Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Brian Harding to
the position of Chief Executive Officer and Chief Librarian, effective January 31, 2022.

"Our Board is very excited to welcome Brian back to Sudbury and to the GSPL," said Board Chair,
Michael Bellmore. "Brian is an experienced library professional with evident passion and vision for
our organization and to have him take the helm at such an opportune time will be very beneficial to
us."

Over the next two years, the GSPL is expected to fully embrace the additional autonomy called for in a
2019 Governance Audit by the City's Auditor General, and the Library is also on a path to realize the
dream of a new central library as part of the Junction East Project.

Brian Harding served as Manager of Libraries and Heritage Resources with the GSPL before moving to
southern Ontario in 2017. He is currently Chief Executive Officer and Chief Librarian for Brock
Township Public Library in Durham Region.

"I am truly excited about returning to Sudbury and leading our library into the future," said Harding.
"I congratulate the GSPL Board and City Council for advancing the modernization of their relationship
so significantly in the past four years. This sets the table for many new opportunities in the future."

The Greater Sudbury Public Library is an independent organization, incorporated under the Ontario
Libraries Act to serve the citizens of Greater Sudbury. The GSPL operates 13 branches and also
provides service to the community through extensive digital and in-person programming.
