Registration is now open for the 2019-2020 Battle of the Books.

The 2019-2020 Battle of the Books Reading List has been announced. Check out our catalogue Reading List to see the titles currently available in our collection. Stay tuned for updates on ordered titles.

Please find attached the Coaches' Manual.

As part of the Forest of Reading program, the Battle now has more to offer registered schools.

Using a Greater Sudbury Public Library card, coaches can borrow one of two Book Bins which each contain half the titles on the Reading List. Bins can be borrowed for three weeks, must be picked up and dropped off at the Main Library, cannot be reserved or renewed, and must be booked by contacting Monique Roy.

Virtual Author Visits can be booked starting in January. Please contact Monique for more information.

Exclusive to registered teams! Prepping Resources, used for training and rehearsal, will be emailed to coaches monthly. The resources will be based on the books on the Reading List and may include activities, games and brain-teasers.

About the Battle of the Books

The Battle of the Books program is a valuable and enjoyable way to generate enthusiasm for books and reading among students and promote literacy in schools.

This program was created to stimulate the enjoyment of recreational reading in Grades 4, 5 and 6 by encouraging students to read more widely in authors they already enjoy and to discover new authors.
