Computer and Internet Use

  • Computers are available for public use at all 13 locations, free-of-charge.
  • You must have a valid Greater Sudbury Public Library card to use any of our computers, except our catalogue stations.

    • If you do not have a GSPL card but are a resident of Greater Sudbury, please obtain one at any location of the library.
    • If you are a visitor to Greater Sudbury, please bring a piece of identification to obtain a one-time or temporary card that will allow you access to our public computer stations.

      • One-time cards are valid for a one-hour session on the day you obtain the card. You may only login once, even if you do not use all of your allotted time.
      • Temporary cards may be obtained by visitors for up to 14 days. These cards allow two hours daily of computer usage. 
  • Black & white and colour printing is available for 25 cents per page.

Book a Computer

  • You may book a computer up to 3 days in advance or drop in to any location to use a computer.  

WiFi

  • Greater Sudbury Public Library provides free wireless Internet access at all 13 locations
  • You may access the wireless network anywhere in the library by using your own portable computer or device that has either built-in WiFi or an installed adapter card.  Library staff are not expected to help visitors configure their devices, due to the wide selection of devices available.
  • To access the wireless network, view available wireless networks from your device and select "Public_Guest" from the list.
  • There are no passwords required to access the WiFi.
  • You may plug your devices in to empty electrical outlets found throughout the library, but not into our network.
  • Please be aware that public WiFi networks are not secureUse this service at your own discretion.
  • Also note that the wireless network is NOT filtered. 
  • You can use our WiFi network to access and download audiobooks and eBooks from our GSPL Anytime, Anywhere collection.
  • At this time, you are not able to print directly to GSPL printers.  Please save your files to portable storage device and use a public workstation to print.
